With 14 locations, 5 brands and 300 professionals in Italy and abroad. These are the figures for the Urbani Group, which currently holds 70% of the global market. The international headquarters are located at the Sant’Anatolia di Narco facilities, in the province of Perugia. Here, 150 employees work together to process and preserve truffles, enhancing their natural characteristics. Under the Urbani Truffles brand, the Group has also expanded abroad, with offices in major cities around the world, including: New York, Miami, Chicago, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Manila, London and Bangkok.
In 1852, Costantino Urbani had an idea: to export fresh truffles to France. The success of this venture soon convinced him to expand into Germany, Switzerland and Italy. Following in the footsteps of his grandfather and his father, Carlo Urbani Senior, he carried on the business with the invaluable help of his wife, Olga Senior, effectively becoming the pioneer of truffle cultivation in Italy. It is thanks to them that the Urbani Tartufi company was founded, organised around the invaluable role of the truffle hunters. The credit for transforming it into a fully mechanised and technologically advanced industry, however, goes to their sons Paolo and Bruno. The former was awarded the title of Cavaliere del Lavoro for creating a business that has become a source of pride for Italy worldwide. The latter now leads the Group and serves as a guiding light for the next generation. With the current Urbani generation—comprising Olga, Carlo and Giammarco—the focus has shifted to developing overseas branches and launching initiatives such as the Truffle Museum, the Truffle Academy, Urbani Travel&Tours, and expanding into mushroom cultivation with Urbani Funghi. The future lies with the sixth generation, comprising Olga’s sons: Luca and Francesco.
